Another bluebird morning with high forecast for the low 90's, and yes, another pass to go over. This pass is Hoodoo pass and is pretty high at nearly 6000' with a 3000' climb, ugh!. Another border crossing, back in to Idaho from Montana over the Bitterroot Mountains.

Glenda is going to hike to some waterfalls up the pass as I peddle on and on.
At the crack of noon I find the truck at Heart Lake trail head, so I help myself  to a colddrink and some snacks for lunch, and leave a heart shaped note for her to find as she returns.

Back to the climb. The road is still good but a bit steeper and progress is slower. I eventually reach the summit 4 hours and 17 miles after starting. At this elevation the hegemony of the thick forest is broken with steep.sloped meadows and well space stands of trees. The wildflowers are out in profusion.


Amazingly enough the roads turns paved.  on  the eIdaho side and I geta ripping decent, for 11 miles when I reach the North fork of the Clearwater river. I can still make good time on the gravel, and go through some old stand of big cedars, with lots of (occupied) dispersed camp sites. It is a beautiful to we valley and the road is great if a little dusty from the ATV riding around with fisher folks.

Stop in at the first forest service campground at Hidden Creek for water. It is in an amazing grove of huge cedars.
11 miles further brings me to Kelly Forks CG and camp.

I check the tire leak area, a little Stan's wetness but tire pressure feels fine when I give it a squeeze. I point the leak down over night so the Stans keeps working. Need to check in the morn.


Hope it works, don't want to have to put a plug or a tube in the essentially new tire.

I follow the Salmon on Hwy 75 all day today. The day started with a breakfast burrito at the restaurant next door to my RV park. It was huge and I did not get it all, so I took the remainder for lunch. A little shopping to fill out dinner and tomorrows breakfast and I am on the road. The salmon valley is wide and hills dry around Challis, much as it was yesterday. It is also our parting as Glenda is heading the long 1200 mile journey back home, and I have a couple thousand plus laying in front of me. She has been a champ, towing the trailer these past 4 weeks, parking and setting up camp while I ride, dealing with me as I stop in brewpubs and local/only bars in teenie tiny towns, and providing a nice smile when I need it. I couldn't do this sort of adventure with out her and I am truly grateful for her support and being a sport about it.
