WWR Day 8 50000 Silver $ Bar in Haugen MT to Trout Creek CG

Another bright and sunny day, but no big climb awaits me.
I avail myself to breakfast in the restaurant instead of cooking up my typical gruel.
My route takes me another another rail trail, this one the Route of the Olympian. Basically an extension of the Hiawatha line.
It is following the St. Regis River downward for many miles, sometimes fast bit often loose gravel . This also parallels I 90.
Still I make decent time and Glenda and I meet up for a picnic lunch iin St Regis,where the river joins the Clark's Fork. this was the rafting put in spot a few days ago.
Did I mention it was hot? 90+ degrees kind of hot? Pickup pavment from St Regis to Superior. In addition to the pavement heat, there it precious little shade on the wider paved roads.
I get to Superior and decide to go for a cold drink at the gas station convenience store Casino and truck stop.
After big gulping for a half hour and adding ice to my electrolyte drink, I am back on the road. Another 7 miles and one dog chase later I pull into trout creek CG and lovely Glenda.
I finished Segment 1 of the WWR.
Segment 2 starts at Superior and will have several challenging days, including the 100+ miles of the remote and isolated, rough and steep MacGruder corridor.
At camp with Glenda I do root around the tire leak and pull out a tiny little sliver of a rock. Don't want to doink to much and make the hole bigger. I pump it back up. We will see how it holds on the morrow

Judging by the dog chase and the old pickup, you might be traveling through survivalist territory.
