Was planning a shorter day to Marten Creek CG on Noxom Res somewhere around 20 miles, but arrived about noon shortly after Glenda and decide to continue after a fine veggie burger lunch with my sweetie. Another gorgeous weather day, blue bird skies in the low 80's. I was 15 miles from Idaho, all climbing totalling nearly 3000'!
Cranking up very good roads and mellow grade for 1st 10 miles. Viewpoints are few as the forest is heavy. For the last 5 miles the grade is steeper and rockier, slowing down the pace.

Lots of chances to check my odometer , but damn it is moving really slow. Need numerous breaks to get the sweat out of my eyes. I am counting down the half miles to the summit. I reach the high spot and ride a mile DOWN to Porcupine Pass and the state line. The road traverses up the steep headwall of the valley, and then does same on the Idaho side.
I guess I am in the Bitterroot Mountains now.

I meet my first bonafide WWR riders today, 2 guys named Bram from Holland. They tell me of a camp ground a dozen miles down the other side, and it has potable water. I make that my destination instead of the N. Fork of the Coeur D'Alene River.
It is fast down hill when not rocky and I reach the campground in bit over an hour on sepertine roads off the top. Chat with the Dutch fellows a bit before fixating on food and camp setup.

Did have a couple of days off. Yesterday went rafting with my Buddy Richard
, who cleverly convinced us to row while he fishes. Also got the inflatable kayak out too. Very enjoyable day on the water.

Also had a day off in Troy and explored some old growth Cedar grove, just massive trees, so many of them.

    1. Yeah there were some monster trees in that grove. Hard to imagine what the primeval forest was like to travel through for days
