GDR-C Day 2 - there and back again (to Banff that is)

Miles about 38.5
Ride time
Total time 4:45
Elevation gain 500'???
Beers 1x 16oz, 2x 4oz Canmore Brewing Co

Nice sunny weather greeted my day. My goal was to ride to Banff today, and then return to Canmore area where Glenda and I are camping

It is very bike friendly and encouraging in these parts and found a nice paved bike trail from campground to Canmore along the Bow River. This dumped me out near the Legacy trail to Banff, also paved through the woods, not far from Hwy1 though.

Got to downtown Banff about lunch time, and found a convenient bench for lunch and also to rest my sorry arse, which is being reinitiated to the rigors of biking after a 4 week hiking hiatus.
Imposing mountains loom through every break in the canopy as I people watch. The day is young, and I have a downhill return, so I decide to ride up to tomorrows departure trail head behind the famous Banff Springs Hotel.

After the obligatory picture and selfie, I check out the trailhead info and hobnob with a group of local bikers exiting the trail. I see that a trail leads down to Bow River Falls, so ride down to check that out. Nice falls, and a popular wedding photo spot, as well as a rafting put in .

Starting back I find another river side trail and bridge through the woods and skirt the congestion of downtown on the he back way. Back cruising down the Legacy trail at a good clip, I get some kudos and high 5s. One rider paces me and we chit chat about my route and his riding in CO.
I stop for an apple break at a nice bicycle wayside with awesome views, taking a break on the red chair commonly found around Parcs Canada. The curled upBeaver seems to be the parks mascot.

A quick 6 mile's brings me back to Canmore, and the Canmore Brewing Company for a much appreciated IPA.
Glenda meets me there, and off to showers and back to camp.
