Bouncing around Banff NP

Our last and longest stay in Parcs Canada was in Two Jack campground not far from Banff town.

We did get our obligatory visits in to lake Louise and Lake Moraine.

Lake Louise was later in the day and we scored an opening in the lakeside parking lots, joining the rest of the crowds ohhhing and ahhing over the dramatic mountains towering above the beautiful glacier fed lake. We would have liked to have hiked to the Plains of 6 Glaciers, but this was late in a long day, and the crowds were quite overwhelming.

We did arrange our Lake Moraine day and scored a few of the last seats on the 7:30 express bus from the over flow parking. It was overcast but lake was fairly calm, and the clouds playing magician with the 10 peaks surrounding Lac Moraine.

We did get another rainy day hike in up Healy Creek. Connor managed to find a way across the bog, while we turned around. He did say the alpine views were tremendous, at least when he wasn't hiding from the thunder gods. He has been jonesing for an alpine  hike. He wore himself out and was quite mellow about hiking afterwards.

Our lazy day included an easy short but scenic walk around Johnson lake near the campgrounds before heading over to soak in the Banff Hot Springs, and admire the amazing views Mt. Rundle across the valley.

We did get to see more wildlife, lot of sheep, a few deer , and multiple sitings of a  juvenile grizzly near our campground. The best was when a magnificent bull elk walked right by our campsite while we were out putzing around . It was one of the largest elk I have seen, or maybe just the closet I have been.
